At 20mm, this heart provides more room than the 15mm design. Keep the important features in the wider centre of the heart and leave space towards the point, especially with portraits or handwriting.
Ideas for your personal engraving
- Photos: A clear portrait or favourite photograph can be prepared for engraving. Choose a well-lit image with the person or subject in focus; busy backgrounds and distant faces leave less useful detail.
- Handwriting: Preserve the shape of someone’s own writing from a card, letter or note. A signature or short phrase keeps the original character of the words, with the length chosen to suit the engraving area.
- Drawings: A child’s sketch, a small doodle or your own line artwork can become the design. Photograph or scan the drawing clearly, keeping the important lines visible against the paper.
- Pet portraits: Use a favourite photograph to capture your companion’s face. A close, sharp image showing the eyes and other distinctive features gives a better starting point than a distant full-body shot.
- Nose prints: A detailed photograph or an existing print of your pet’s nose can supply its individual pattern. Clear texture is useful, although the finest detail depends on the image and the size of the engraving.
